Every Great Product Begins with a Problem Worth Solving
The story of Vedanta Software began long before the name "Vedanta Software" existed.
During his freelancing career, Ankur Gupta, Founder of Vedanta Software, developed several News Portal CMS solutions with integrated ePaper functionality for newspaper publishers. While working closely with editors and media organizations, he repeatedly observed a common challenge—publishers needed a dedicated platform designed specifically for publishing their printed newspapers online.
This realization inspired a vision that would eventually become the foundation of Vedanta Software.
The Birth of Epaper CMS®
In 2014, while operating under the name Abhinav Software, Ankur Gupta developed a dedicated software solution exclusively for ePaper websites and introduced it under the name Epaper CMS®.
The objective was simple: to provide newspaper publishers with a reliable, purpose-built platform for publishing their print editions online.
Over the years, the name Epaper CMS became widely recognized within the digital publishing industry.
Today, Epaper CMS® is a registered trademark owned by Ankur Gupta, Proprietor of Vedanta Software.
Learning, Improving, and Moving Forward
When Epaper CMS was first introduced, our business did not yet have the infrastructure, deployment architecture, and operational ecosystem required to deliver software as a fully managed Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform.
As a result, the software was distributed under the traditional licensing model along with its source code.
As the product gained popularity, we realized that this model was not suitable for centralized updates, continuous innovation, long-term customer support, and protection of intellectual property.
Instead of accepting those limitations, we decided to build something better.
The Journey to Epaper CMS Cloud
In 2017, we began extensive research and development to transform Epaper CMS into a modern cloud-based SaaS platform.
The journey was filled with technical challenges. During development, an unexpected hardware failure resulted in the loss of months of work, forcing us to restart a significant part of the project from the beginning.
Although it was a difficult setback, it strengthened our determination.
Development resumed in 2018, and after another year of continuous engineering, testing, and refinement, Epaper CMS Cloud was successfully launched in 2019.
This marked the beginning of our Software-as-a-Service journey.
Built with Customer Feedback
From the very beginning, we believed that the best product roadmap comes directly from customers.
Instead of building features based on assumptions, we listened carefully to publishers, editors, journalists, and media organizations.
Every feature request was treated as an opportunity to improve the platform.
Many of the capabilities available in Epaper CMS Cloud today were introduced because our customers requested them.

A New Identity
As our business expanded, it became clear that the existing name, Abhinav Software, no longer reflected our long-term vision.
We wanted a name that would represent our Indian roots while also being suitable for the global technology market.
Therefore, in 2021, Abhinav Software was rebranded as Vedanta Software.
The new name represented not only a new identity but also our commitment to building world-class publishing technology.
Expanding Beyond ePaper
As our customer base continued to grow, many publishers requested a single platform capable of managing both their ePaper and News Portal websites.
Listening to these requirements, Vedanta Software introduced Newsportal CMS Cloud in 2021, enabling publishers to manage both platforms under one trusted technology partner.
Today, Vedanta Software offers complete digital publishing solutions for newspapers, media houses, and digital publishers across India.

To protect the identity and reputation of the platform introduced in 2014, Epaper CMS® is now a registered trademark owned by Ankur Gupta, Proprietor of Vedanta Software.
We remain committed to continuously enhancing the original platform through customer-driven innovation, modern cloud technologies, and exceptional after-sales support.
